Ecolabel
WHAT IS THE EUROPEAN ECOLABEL?
- It is a mark of ecological quality.
- The Ecolabel for tourism was established on 14th April 2003, when the European Commission extended the applicability of the EU label to tourist accommodation services (decision 2003/287/CE).
- The label is based on the scrupulous respect of a set of criteria that allow the structures who receive it to be distinguished, on a European level, for their work towards the improvement of environmental quality and to provide guarantees as to the efficiency of the protection measures adopted.
- It is recognised and applied in the 15 member states of the EU, and in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein
- The reduced environmental impact refers to the life-cycle of:
- PRODUCTS (from the extraction of raw materials to the production, distribution and use phases and the disposal after use)
- SERVICES (from the purchasing of goods, to providing services and waste disposal management)
Remember that in order to be sure you have
a product/service with the ECOLABEL mark
You always have to look for the “European flower”.
